Last week’s game was important to both teams as we were looking to consolidate our position in the top six and Brighton needed the win to push up the ladder to vie for a spot in the finals later in the season.
We started the game very well, jumping out of the blocks and sustaining plenty of pressure on Brighton when they had possession of the ball. This enabled us to kick six goals in the opening quarter and come to the quarter-time break with a handy lead of 21 points. From then on, I think the game was pretty much in the balance with Brighton throwing everything at us. However, to our guys’ credit, we persisted and won plenty of the ball in general play which enabled us to go on and record an 18 point victory.
With lots of new faces and young players in the team, it is pleasing to see us improve week by week and stand up to the pressure of senior football.
I also think the attitude of the players toward their football and what the group wants to achieve has improved and has been fantastic.
Best players were: Brodie Phillips, Nathan Barton, Justin Myers, Gav Quirk, Brad Turner, Dexter Bertoldo and Kase Miller.
