Round 2 Reports – 2011

ROUND 2 -V- Cygnet at Slab Road

The trip last week to Cygnet allowed the Blues to post a solid win over Cygnet in the Seniors and a disappointing loss in the Reserves.
Post-game beers in the Cygnet clubrooms in amiable surroundings made celebrating the mixed results enjoyable.  We thank Cygnet Football Club for extending their hospitality and we hope to reciprocate in Round 13.  Thanks to Nifty and the team.

The Centenary Ball is on Saturday 9th July at Wrest Point Casino.  To register you interest to attend, please contact the Club on the numbers listed in this record

SENIORS

Another road trip for the Two Blues, this time to Cygnet, saw our senior team take the points in perfect conditions for football at Cygnet Oval.

The first term saw both teams play some exciting end-to-end footy with the Two Blues taking a slender lead into quarter time.

Early dominance in the second quarter was a sign of things to come as the Two Blues extended their lead ay half-time.

With a strong defence, hard-working mid-field and lively forwards, the Two Blues controlled the game after half-time and never looked threatened to record a satisfying Away win.
A strong team performance was the highlight of the day, allowing Marriott to kick five goals and Nick McWilliams three with a host of other important contributors.

RESERVES

The Two Blues Reserves travelled to Cygnet in what proved to be a valuable earning experience for the young team.  It was terrific to see a lot of improvement from the previous week, especially the younger players some of whom have clearly signalled their intention they want to work hard and play senior football.  The return of several strong and experienced players combined with some very exciting youngsters will see the Two Blues Reserves mould into a very competitive team in the coming weeks.  The team is well coached by Boof Turner and a solid win is just around the corner.

COLTS

Unfortunately, Lindisfarne failed to get enough interest to field a Colts side last week.
Things are afoot to remedy this situation and, with the bye against Claremont this week, we have some to time to consolidate our plans.
