Round 17 Colts Report

Saturday saw the colts take on the Central Hawks at Anzac Park.

Going into the game we knew that the Hawks were going to throw everything at us and we were determined to start well.

Our pressure around the ground was fierce and our midfield were on top and we went into the major break 3 goals up.  This should of been more but credit has to be given to the hawks defence as they continuelly rebounded it out.

The second half saw the boys continue to pile on the pressure and we ran out 8 goals victors.

We now look forward to our 2 remaining games full of confidence and with a great opportunity to finish the year well.

Better players for the day included Jai Bannister & Jy Sullivan in the middle, Bodie Savage & Brad Riley down back and Shaun 'Froggy' Frogson booted 4 goals up forward.

Round 13 Colts Report

Saturday morning the colts travelled to Boyer to take on the undefeated New Norfolk.

In what was always going to be a tough game, we were reduced to 17 players by the start of the match with some of the boys succumbing to injury and work commitments.

To the boys credit they never dropped their heads and even though New Norfolk ran out easy winners by 150+ pts we gained some positives going forward.

Better players for the day included Cam Potter through the midfield, Shaun Frogson & Kieren Iles down back while the 2 ruckmen Raeden Smedley and Dave Cruse both gave massive efforts.

Next Week we take on Dodges Ferry at Anzac Park, and with the return of key players it promises to be a close game.

Round 10 Colts Report

Saturday saw the colts travelling to Cygnet, for what looked like to be a close encounter taking in consideration previous results.

We were greeted by light rain, but the oval was in the good condition and there was no wind to note.

All day it was a close encounter with both sides swapping the lead several times but unfortunately we found ourselves on the wrong side of a 3 point margin at games end.

Better players included Shaun Frogson, who kicked 5 goals at full forward, Jordan McCullam, Ian McKenzie and Bodie Savage through the midfield and Luke Alsford down back.

We now head back to the track looking to work a little harder and keep improving.

Note:  Friday night the U18's and U15's will be playing a mixed match under lights at Anzac Park kicking off around 6pm.  All players and supporters welcome.

Round 6 Colts Report

Saturday saw the colts travel to Oatlands to take on the central hawks.

After a few hard weeks of playing the benchmark teams the boys were confident on taking on the hawks who have been struggling this year.

Kicking into a stiff breeze in the first term we were happy to come of at 3 goals a piece and by half time we were up by around 4 goals.  The third term saw the hawks take the ascendancy and with the breeze they were leading by a solitary point heading into the last.  The boys dug deep and with the aid of the breeze kicked 7 unanswered goals to run out winners by 46 points.

Better players for the day included Jake Whittenbury, Kieren Iles, Raedan Smedley, Shaun Frogson, Jordan Watson and Luke Alsford.
Major goal kickers were Jake Whittenbury with 4 and Shaun Frogson with 3.

Was pleasing to see that our game-plan is coming together and our forward structure is working.
