The weather was good, the ground hard and it was time for us to stand up. We went into the game coming off two bad losses and it was do or die.
We all knew what was required and in the first quarter we blew the lions off shark park with quick ball movement and our ability to run the lines and feed our forwards with some good delivery. At the break we had a five goal lead which was a bonus for us as we are generally not good starters to games.
The second quarter turned into a slog for both teams and in the third we were blown away by a harder working Huonville unit that thought to lead by a goal at three quarter time. Luckily for us it could have been a lot more, but they were inaccurate on goals.
In the last quarter we found the form that we had in the first quarter and even though we were tired we dug deep and started to move the ball quicker which resulted in us winning by 19 points.
In a really good moral boosting win for us, we had numerous players that played well. Dave Smith played exceptionally well up forward and down back. The on-ball brigade of Tom Robinson, Nathan Hollis and Paul Johnstone gained a lot of the ball and were well feed be the big man Josh McWilliams. Others that played well were Anthony Clifford, who improves every game and the dependable Matt Stone and Chris Harper who go about their business without fuss.
Next week we have another big task when we play New Norfolk for a spot in the Grand Final. If we play four quarters of good football I am more than sure we can give the lads from Boyer another upset.
