Reserves Mid Season Report

Half way through the season and with nine games played we find ourselves with eight wins and one loss and in third spot on the ladder.

This has been a fantastic effort for a side that has been hit pretty badly during the season with injuries, but to the side’s credit we have only suffered one loss. A lot of credit must go to the players that find themselves in and out on regular basis. If it was not for these players I am sure our win/loss ratio would be a lot different.

The defensive unit are now playing some tight but attacking football, and are starting to become a team within the team. Some big roles have been accomplished within the backline and a special mention should go to Matt Stone, Matt Phillips and Shaun Haberfield who have all started to find some excellent form of late.

The on-ball brigade have been consistent and with the inclusion of the big bodied Paul Jackson we are now finding we are winning our fair share of the ball up contests but on a negative we need to lift our work rate up a bit more to get ourselves to more stoppages. Good contributors in the middle and through the centre line have been Sam Paino, Nathan Hollis and Nick McWilliams.

Up forward Leigh Proud does a tremendous job when available and his brother Trent is now starting to find some good form.

In conclusion we have a good first half for the year, but now the business end is about to start and we must continue to win games so we can consolidate a good position on the ladder.
