In muddy conditions the Two Blues failed against a revitalized Brighton team that held no resemblance to the team we played in round 1 of the season.
The conditions again called for some hard straight line football and a desire to win the hard ball. We as a side didn’t lack the desire, but what was most disappointing on the day was that we continually turned the ball over and in the end it cost us. We also were very deficient when going forward to convert our opportunities.
We had winners all over the ground and we had a fair share of the football but at the end of the day these are just excuses as we did not come away with a win. We still don’t play the wet conditions very well and this could be a problem until the grounds dry out a bit.
Better players on the day were Andrew Clarke and Nick McWilliams who relish these hard conditions. Mitch Leale and Trent Laird are now finding some good form and Nathan Hollis and Paul Jackson worked hard.
Next week we take on Claremont at home in hopefully a better performance than the week just passed..
