Round 2 Reserves Report

Round 2 Reserves Report –V- New Norfolk.  Season 2010

The Two Blue reserves team went into last weekend’s game prepared for the challenge that was New Norfolk, who are the reigning premiers and also were coming off a big win against Dodges Ferry.

The game started with the expected intensity with players on each side giving everything to win the footy.  The Two Blues seemed to settle into the game a lot early than our opponents which gave us the early lead which we built on during the game.

A huge positive for the side was that we were able to maintain our hard straight line running and also our work rate never slipped.  We continued to have numbers running the lines, linking up and putting on protection for each other.  This was especially pleasing considering the hot conditions that the game was played in.

A lot of run and clearance work was done by Dexter Bertoldo who played another good game for the club since transferring from the Central Hawks.  The defense held strong all day and was well served by Mick 'Lofty' Grimsey and Mick Hemming.  Shaun Skelly and Dave 'Country' Smith provided a headache for opposition players at both ends of the ground.  Nathan Barton’s skill and attack on the football was exceptional and Henry 'The H Man' Pfeiffer provided many assists to the forwards.  Chris 'Psycho' Turner also played a great game by doing the team things that don’t usually get recognized.

All up a positive day for the Two Blues reserves, were everyone contributed to a good win.  Going forward we still have a lot of improvement in us as a team as we work towards sticking to our game plan.

This weekend we play Dodges Ferry at Shark Park and will be up for another challenge from a strong club on their home turf coming off a bye.  We now must maintain the standard that we have set ourselves.
