This week the reserves took on Dodges Ferry down at Shark Park and we went into the game loosing around six players (due to injuries in the senior side) from the side that defeated New Norfolk the week before. This was not going to be a big deal as the club has a lot of depth and the players bought into the side were more than capable.
Dodges were always going to give us a hard contest as they were coming off the bye and their side included some very capable players. To our credit we took control of the game early and held possession until we were able to hit up our large forwards.
87 points is a good victory but we also kicked at goal poorly. 18 goals 25 behinds is not a good conversion rate and is something that needs some work to improve.
Our back line was terrific all day as Mick 'Lofty' Grimsey again went about his business along with Nathan Barton who repelled many attacks and Ricky Batt who was hard at it all day. Andrew Clarke was also impressive all over the ground as was Jesse Hamill and Chris Russell who gave the on-ballers a lot of the footy. Luke Mason played in a number of positions and showed his versatility to the side.
We now have the weekend off due to the bye and will hopefully come back the week after full strength to take on undefeated Kingborough.
