This game against Sorell was the reserve grade Grand Final rematch and after the disappointment that we had on that day, we were keen to make amends.
We needed to impose ourselves early on the game and even though our ruckmen were getting first use of the football we were unable to get on top of a very determined Sorell team. After some hard work we were able to break away and started to get some delivery into our forward line were Leigh Proud was able to convert to give us an early lead that we slowly built on.
We constantly lost focus and let our selves down by being undisciplined, playing from behind, and our communication was way to quiet. These areas we must improve on if we are to be any chance against the best teams in the reserve grade this year.
It was good to get the four points and get back a little from last years Grand Final. The better players on the day were Kase Miller, Matt Phillips, Sam Paino, Shaun Haberfield, Paul Johnstone and Leigh Proud up forward who gave us a focal point and didn’t let his team mates down.
This week we travel to Oatlands to take on the Central Hawks. We must take our best game to play this side as they will be physical and they will never give up.
