The Lindisfarne Nu-Jet Two Blues went into their round 2 clash with an unchanged line up from Round 1 and were looking to make it 2 from 2. It was great to be back playing on the home turf of Anzac Park against a strong Brighton outfit.
Again the boys ran out after another great win from Menza’s boys in the ressies. Fantastic position for the club to be in with plenty of depth, we have a number of Reserves players putting pressure on the senior group.
After jumping out of the blocks, the boys went into quarter time with a 7 point lead: 4.2 26 to Brighton 3.1 19.
Half time saw the lads with a lead of 22 points and looking to break the game open 8.7 55 to Brighton 5.3 33. Key midfielders Nick Braslin, Nathan Mills and Michael Clarke were all finding plenty of the footy.
The last half saw the boys really take control in the midfield and open up a match winning lead. Sam Hobden was providing plenty of head aches up forward playing a Stephen Milne type role and with his help, the boys went into 3/4 time with a 44 point lead. With plenty of midfield rotations our fitness and skill levels improved as the game went on and this was evident on the score board.
The game finished with the Two Blues running out 41 point winners and dominating the majority of play in the last quarter. Ruckman Matthew Phillips battled all day in the ruck against a bigger opponent and the ever reliable duo of Jamie Ford and Justin Myers showed plenty of dash and they repelled any attack that went into the back half. Full back Robbie Jackman also played a great game down back and is fitting in the club very nicely.
