Presidents Update July 2010

The season is now 2/3 of the way through, and after Saturday’s game against Dodges everyone is looking forward to a weekend off with the bye.

All three sides have shown positive signs this season. It has been particularly pleasing to see the continual improvement, in particular by the colts and seniors.

The seniors showed last week that they can compete with everyone in the competition, having a solid display and taking it right up to New Norfolk. The reserves have been solid all season and I am sure will get over the minor hiccup they had against New Norfolk last week. The colts under Scotty Bester have become a solid unit and should win more games before the season’s end.

We still have 3 home games to go and are always looking for extra help on match days. It takes a lot of help to run the club on home games. This includes finding bar staff, canteen staff, 4 people to man the gate, people to sell the raffles and margin tickets and a couple of people to man the BBQ and wet area. On top of this, on the football side we need 3 match managers, people to man the scoreboard and time-keep in each game,  water boys, trainers, interchange stewards and at the start of each day people to set up the ground. The day finishes off with people cleaning the ground and clubrooms. In this context I’d like to thank those people who tirelessly help each week, they have done a great job.

If anyone reading this letter can lend a hand for an hour or so please let me know. Extra help is always most welcome.

Finally I’d like to wish the three sides all the best for the last part of the season, in what we hope is a lead up to another finals campaign in each grade.

President’s Update April 2010

It has been a mixed start to the season on the field with the Seniors and Colts both winning a game while the reserves have won their first three games. I am sure that the Seniors will be back to their winning form in the near future, having over the last two weeks played sides that we met in the Preliminary Final and Grand Final last year.

In particular it has been fantastic to see the Colts get good numbers together under coach Scotty Bester. They have improved week to week and the more they play together the better they will be. I am sure a few wins are just around the corner.

Off the field we have put a strong Board together, but always welcome more help, in particular in the canteen and on the gate during match days. It is a long day for Board members and the handful of extra volunteers that currently assist. Any extra help would be much appreciated, so if you can donate an hour or so please let me or one of the other Board members know. In addition don’t be scared to approach Board members with matters you might wish to raise. We as a group always appreciate positive constructive input.

Tony Hilder, Scott Devine, Luke Goodsell, Doug Withers, and Kerry Summers have done a magnificent job in attracting and recruiting sponsors and members for the 2010 season. As you would all be aware it is an expensive exercise to run a football club, and anyone wishing to sponsor the Club or to become a member would be most warmly welcomed. If interested in either sponsorship or membership the various types along with the responsible Board members are listed in the newsletter.

Finally, welcome to the 2010 season, board members and I hope that we see you at the football this season watching the Two Blues marching onto victory.
